If you have turned off the notifications, you will have to enable them again. After that, enter the messages app and find the person you want to remove notifications from and select it, in the messages you will see an icon with an ‘I’ at the top of the screen.
After tapping on that, you will have to choose the ‘Hide Alerts’ option. And once that is done, you will no longer see any notifications from that person.
